We all know after COVID, inflation, etc, the quality of outdoor dining is terrible. Size decreases, quality decreases, and pricing is out the window. Based on student recommendations, here are some non-brand local spots to check out:

1338 Southern Blvd Luna Cafe 10459

“Luna Cafe is a family-owned and operated all-you-can-eat buffet. Though small they have a lot to offer, their design makes you feel as if you are home and their meal also gives you the warmth of it. I recommend this place if you are looking for a quick place to eat." Review given by an Anonymous Reviewer

"This underground Cafe is probably the best place I’ve eaten without breaking the bank. The fact that they’re family-owned is even more impressive with such a delicious outcome for food, it also makes it feel like home. I definitely recommend this place if you love soul food and are in the area.” Review given by an Anonymous Reviewer

Al Aqsa 2107 Starling Ave, Bronx, NY 10462

“Coming from a background of a Bengali family, we try to become closer to our culture whether it is through people or even food. My first time in Al-Aqsa was with my cousin when I visited America. Since I have only seen fast food and never the street food I am used to in Bangladesh, I felt a little disrupted.  If you like spicy, tangy, and mouthwatering food,  then you should definitely check this place out. It is one of the prominent places for Bengali locals to visit.

My favorite memory was this morning when I went with my family for dinner and the food was scrumptious! I adored the samosa and fried chicken. The seekh kebab and Mango lassi(Sweet mango Smoothie) became my little sister's favorite and the tea(cha) became my dad's. Now my family would consistently go to Al-Aqsa because it is one step closer to back home. Now, I also suggest this place for everyone, to explore the cuisine of Bangladesh and even supermarkets with halal meat if anyone is interested!” Review given by Sajia Uddin, Sophomore

600 E 187th St, Bronx, NY 10458

“Full Moon Pizza, Arthur Avenue Arthur Avenue, known as the "Little Italy of The Bronx," is known for its plethora of fantastic Italian restaurants. This being said, Full Moon Pizza rises above its competition and takes the prize for serving up the best pies in the area. The slices are huge, the prices are affordable, and you can't beat their garlic knots: chewy rolls slathered in butter and lots of chopped garlic. The flavors are all of your predictable favorites (pepperoni, buffalo chicken, mushroom...) but my personal favorite lately is just plain ol' cheese. There are small tables for in-house dining, or you can also take the pizza to go. Watch out--these pizzas come straight out of the oven so the box or paper plate is very hot!” Review given by Elizabeth Scheer, Teacher

920 E 174th Street NEW YORK PIZZA

“I can officially say this is some of the best pizza I’ve personally ever had at any “New York Pizza” spot. Fresh, stretchy cheese, perfect crunch, they aren’t cheap with how much they provide, to sum it up, for a little shop they make some really good pizza." Review given by an Anonymous Reviewer

"Don’t let the size stop you from visiting this small business. The food was affordable and well worth the price٫ the slices of pizza were larger than my face. it was amazing to eat after a difficult day of school with the friendly service and cozy atmosphere. Recommend to anyone trying to eat out.” Review given by an Anonymous Reviewer
